The area really did need it though. I told God the most important thing for me was that it was not above 80 degrees since my dress was pretty heavy. It must have been in the low 60's, because there were a few times I was a little chilly! And I told everyone to dress warm... Oops!

My thanks go out to everyone who was there and many many people who where not, but supported me anyway. I think the best part of the whole day were the musical contrubutions. Wow, Ryan... You are so very talented. Want to start a band?

We leave for Milwaukee this afternoon, and fly out of Mitchell tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. We are looking forward to a week of hassle-free vacation after a week of wedding planing at break-neck speed! Pictures are in the making, I will be posting some digital photo albums for everyone soon. But first...the honeymoon!Caitlyn, the Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04348186399086818162noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942026596780753706.post-46122029666768153742007-07-24T11:33:00.000-06:002007-07-30T14:32:39.433-06:00Gift "Registry"Lee and I haven't registered at any stores, but we would like to put out a list of ideas for folks who are looking. Speaking of the mother of the bride, there
we are in a picture of our first visit to Mexico after my college graduation. The wedding itself is the first page to open, all other dates are under the tab "Wedding Events."

The next date to be added should be a La Crosse area wedding shower.Caitlyn, the Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04348186399086818162noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942026596780753706.post-73349083282445069472007-05-30T08:07:00.000-06:002007-05-30T08:10:57.642-06:00Marriage CounselingCaitlyn and I just had our first marriage counseling session with Pastor Jim Maness from Sand Lake Wesleyan Church. When I decided to quit my job as a morning stocker, I expected to have three jobs for about a week or so...not three.

As soon as I started my new "full time" job, I realized it was going to be hard work, and I may have to give up my job at the library. But I was willing (albeit begrudgingly) if it meant paying the bills. So I had three part-time jobs for two weeks. When that was over I thought I could take it easy. But then another job opportunity happened to present itself at the library. I thought to myself, I really don't need it, but what the heck! I might as well try. And so I have three jobs again for a week and a half while I quit my full-time job (in which I never got the chance to get up to full-time) and am now working two positions at the library. One in Reference, and one playing video games with kids. I absolutely love it. I was overjoyed to be able to stay at the library. It is an absolutely wonderful place to work.

But then what about that part-time, full-time job? I felt a little sheepish for quiting after only a month of working there. I thought to myself, "God...why work somewhere for a month? Why give me the opportunity if you knew I would get this better job so soon after getting hired?" But then my mother reminded me of the Israelites in the desert lead by Moses in Exodus 16 and the food that God provided them. It was never too little or too much, and none of it was to be stored away except the day before the Sabbath. Perhaps that Hobby Lobby job was my manna? Enough of a paycheck to pay the bills until I received the position at the library? Regardless I am very thankful and very excited about what I can help accomplish at the library.

Things should be settling down now (knock on wood), and I will once again have the time to keep you all updated on wedding events.

Stay tuned for more of Caitlyn and Lee's wedding after this...Caitlyn, the Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04348186399086818162noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942026596780753706.post-37591964178106217352007-05-19T23:46:00.000-06:002007-05-20T00:35:38.396-06:00Another Ugliest Dress of the Week!

I think this woman might have taken the old gospel lyrics "on the wings of the snow white dove" a little too seriously.

Swan lake anyone?Caitlyn, the Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04348186399086818162noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942026596780753706.post-79805943273183726822007-04-19T18:54:00.000-06:002007-04-19T19:01:30.479-06:00Prayer RequestIf I may stray off the topic of our wedding for a moment, a friend of ours (JS) had to rush his mother to the hospital recently for an emergancy surgery. JS and his family (especially his mother) could use some prayer. The surgery went well, but the doctors warned that complications could arise during recovery. Please help me pray for them.

Thank you.Caitlyn, the Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04348186399086818162noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942026596780753706.post-60277955453175092032007-04-12T17:20:00.000-06:002007-04-12T17:52:36.496-06:00Ring, Room, and RisksWell, Lee and I now have our set of rings in a little black box that is sitting on my TV table. Lately I've been bringing it everywhere I go just in case I spot another victim...er...person who hasn't seen them yet. I don't have a picture, but I will try to borrow a digital camera sometime soon. They are plain, thin, white gold bands. Simple yet elegant. What's more exciting is the prospect of wearing them in less than four months!

There's been a lot more going on these past couple of weeks than just ring jitters. We've also managed to secure a wonderful 2 bedroom apartment under my current landlord just across the hall from where I am now. The best thing about it is the washer and dryer in the small basement. I can finally stop collecting quarters. I will be moving in sometime next month (May), and Lee will join me in August.

But just after getting the apartment, my hours were cut at my second job making it incredibly difficult for me to continue putting money away for the wedding and cutting into my grocery budget. Yet I was determined to have faith that God will provide for me, even if His plans don't coincide with my own. And do you know what? God doesn't disappoint. I will be starting my new full time job at Hobby Lobby on Monday. The funny thing is, I called to ask if they were hiring. They weren't. I turned in an application anyway. The manager I talked to said they weren't hiring, but they'll keep it on file. Not even 24 hours later they called me for an interview. When I arrived, they asked when I could start. You see, the store manager decided to expand the home decor department with one additional full time position (there was only one full time person and a few part-timers). They decided not to advertise for the moment and give the next applicant a call. That would be me.

More about the new job coming soon...Caitlyn, the Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04348186399086818162noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942026596780753706.post-56995873686756657792007-04-02T10:53:00.000-06:002007-05-22T18:47:06.326-06:00One more step!Yesterday Lee and I ordered our wedding rings. It was very exciting, and a lot less of a hassle than we had expected. That's right, this will be a third generation dress with fabric as new as yesterday combined with fabric that is 47 years old at least.

Currently I have both dresses in pieces, and am in the process of playing the life sized paper doll game rearranging the components until I find a style I want to keep.

I want everything about my wedding to be meaningful or symbolic and the dress is no exception.

In asking permission to dismantle a garment they wore at their wedding, my "fore-mothers" allowed their creation to be molded into something new. Likewise they have given their blessing and permission to be taken from the family and joined in a union that will most certainly craft us into the people we will be 50 years from now.

The act of dissecting these dresses gave me time to analyze the person and marriage these dresses came from. If I start my own marriage from scratch without any other influences, I will surely fail. Thank God I have examples to mirror success and learn from mistakes.

The stage I am currently at is the building of the foundation. I have bare fabric that will be pinned with many different styles and pieces until I find what I want. If I just sewed my dress with the first style I made, I might never know the value of that decision, whether good or bad. The same goes for my life and commitment to my future husband. With Christ as our foundation, we will stand firm together no matter what life looks like. But marriage is about compromise (among many other things) and so it is only if we are both willing to change and adapt to fit each other's needs that our union becomes stronger. We learn which choices work, and which don't, which are strong, and which are weak.

It is only after testing these components that our marriage can begin to take form. Hopefully commitment with each other will turn out as beautiful as I hope my dress will. And may our families, values, and traditions remain as equally as entwined in our lives as the extensive history within my dress. I look forward to the results.

Caitlyn, the Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04348186399086818162noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942026596780753706.post-84332275034741621042007-03-20T14:52:00.000-06:002007-03-20T14:59:20.389-06:00Construction season endith! We are officially done making the basic changes on our Wedding blog. Of course things are going to be a little rocky in the beginning. I could never be diligent about diaries, let alone an online blog. But, I expect to learn as I go so bare with me and my lack of virtual knowledge.

My rough idea for this site/blog is to have regular entries about Lee and my progress in wedding plans. There are a few things I would like to provide for all our friends and relatives in an attempt to be kept updated. They are...
~A blog of progress
~Calendar of events
~Online photo albums
~Gift/honeymoon registry
~Links to relevant sites

At least those are my lofty ambitions at this point. Of course I want this to be a form of communication that anybody and everybody can be a part of, so feel free to comment.

With that said, let the beginning...well, begin.Lee, the Groomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08100355885781654470noreply@blogger.com0
